Prof. Opher, in her earlier career, explored fundamental plasma processes such as naturally existing fluctuations away from eigenmode in plasma, both classic and quantum plasma. She wrote the first paper with John Dawson in UCLA exploring the effects of such fluctuations in quantum plasma, starting a whole new field.
